Recently I have worked with some families who are thinking of moving to Cook County. Their jobs allow them to work long distance using our excellent high-speed Internet service. Families often ask about the quality of our local schools. As a retired teacher it is easy to brag about our excellent, professional staff.
Families thinking about moving here love our beautiful county but aren’t sure they want to leave the well-funded schools in the Twin Cities area. I hope in the next year I can tell my clients, “Our great community just passed a school referendum. We are committed to keeping our small district excellent!”
I invite you to vote yes so we can continue to attract young families looking for communities who believe schools are worth funding! Vote to keep our classroom sizes small; re-build our old science labs so our kids can compete in today’s world; provide funds to repair old roofs; maintain staff levels so we can keep our new, energetic staff ; keep up with technology needs in an ever-changing world; and maybe we can even replace our ancient, leaky bus garage!
The state does not want to fully fund our schools. So, yes, it is up to us. Please join me in voting yes for the bonding/levy referendums.
