This is a very simple ditty which can be added to by anyone. My intent is simply a Thanksgiving love song to this sweet, boisterous, calm, feisty, cantankerous little town on the Big Lake that will some day get it all together.
The Grand Marais Song
Oh, what can we do
in Grand Marais
in the winter when
it’s cold and gray?
We wanted to ski
and to snowshoe there
but the snow is all gone
and the ground is bare.
So, what can we do
in Grand Marais
in the winter when the sky
is cold and gray?
Well, there’s pizza
at Sven & Ole’s,
story hour at the library,
skipping stones in the harbor
(just don’t go out on the ice),
check out classes at the
Art Colony and North House,
ski down hill
(they always have snow),
drink coffee and
listen to gossip at Java Moose,
drive around moose-looking,
search for your dream cabin,
listen to music, music, music.
So, that’s what we’ll do
in Grand Marais
in the winter time
when it’s cold and gray.
