A season to be thankful

Most of us will be gathering together to celebrate fall. I decided to compile a list of all that I am thankful for in 2017, both big and small. It’s a wonderful season to be thankful.

1. My parents—because no matter how old I am, they can still solve any problem.

2. Fireplaces.

3. The local farmer’s market.

4. The time I get to spend reading my favorite books.

5. Pumpkin pie, and all of the flavors of fall.

6. Sweater weather.

7. The best friend I can call after months apart, and pick up right where we left off.

8. Pillows. Lots and lots of pillows.

9. Really good sheets!

10. Recipes that have been passed down through my family for years.

11. Pints of ice cream.

12. My health—even on days when it isn’t perfect.

13. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

14. Our porch.

15. Puppies and dogs. 16. Correct grammar. 17. Cocktails, in general. 18.

Cheese. Cheese plates. Macaroni and cheese. Grilled cheese. 19. Family vacations. 20. Wool socks.

21. Music. Preferably Lyle Lovett or Guy Clark.

22. Freshly cut flowers.

23. Candles that make the house smell like the holidays.

24. Movies I love to watch again and again.

25. S’mores and campfires. 26. Thick photo albums.

27. Pretty stationery and a heartfelt thank you note.

28. A really good hug. 29. Long drives on open roads with my husband.

30. And finally, my child’s hilarious, brutal honesty.

“If you are really thankful, what do you do?
You share.”
