It is the season for rummage sales and there was a very special sale held in July to benefit the local nonprofit Arrowhead Animal Rescue. The Cook County Senior Center was crowded with folks who care for animals, including an energetic young supporter, Jordan Hurly, who had her own table of items to sell to support the organization.
Jordan sold pictures that she and her friends had made and some adorable kitten-shaped sugar cookies. Jordan gave all of her proceeds to Arrowhead Animal Rescue to be used for the care and housing of rescued animals in Cook County. She raised $15.
Asked why she went to all that work, Jordan replied, “Because I love animals.”
Arrowhead Animal Rescue is currently working to build a new animal shelter to better accommodate the community’s needs. Over 50 animals have been sheltered, sent to foster care or adopted in the past year alone.
