A North Shore Holiday presents a dazzling way to do north

As the folks who live here can attest, the holiday season is one of the best times of the year to enjoy Cook County, offering a winter wonderland set against the backdrop of Lake Superior, a variety of outdoor winter activities to do with family and friends, and unique, personal, oneof a-kind gifts available all along the shore.

In an effort to promote the unique North Shore holiday experience, the Cook County Visitors Bureau has created A North Shore
Holiday,
a series of themed weekends from Thanksgiving through December.

During the special themed holiday weekends, shoppers can find the perfect personalized gift or stocking stuffer and meet the artist or author who created it. There are opportunities to take part in do-it-yourself workshops to create unique and memorable gifts. Enjoy live music, caroling under the stars and special holiday concerts. Take advantage of the great offers from local area businesses, hitch a horse-drawn trolley ride or, of course, hit the slopes during the opening of ski season at Lutsen Mountains. Up-to-date information, activities and entertainment are available online at www.anorthshoreholiday. com.

A North Shore Holiday
will officially kick off with a special tree lighting ceremony in downtown Grand Marais in Harbor Park on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 4:30 p.m. Carolers will provide holiday cheer, Mayor Sue Hakes will light the tree, and Santa and his sled dogs will be on hand for photo opportunities. Everyone is invited to attend this free, family-friendly event.
