The editorial comments of the past few weeks concerning religion remind me of the ridiculously partisan political arguments of recent years and of the hopeless gridlock our federal and state governments are in. Both sides of this “can it be proven or disproven” religion argument are adamant they are right and the other side is wrong. Not unlike the countless situations in Washington or St. Paul, this discussion will go on forever without resolution.
While I do not expect either side will budge from their positions, wouldn’t you obvious to them their argument cannot be won?
So, I am offering up a possible solution to this issue. Perhaps when it comes to discussions concerning religion, we should implement the military policy of “don’t ask, don’t tell.” Maybe then we could all believe what we wish to and do so in peace.
