A message from the Grand Marais Lions Club President

Several members of the Grand Marais Lions were trying to catch a big fish to enter their fish contest for the 92nd annual Fisherman’s Picnic that will be held throughout this weekend. Sadly, the monster on the other end of the line was so big that these five strapping lions couldn’t pull it in, and it finally got away. Now it’s up to you to catch a big fish to enter in the contest. Good luck! Pictured from L-R: Bob Spry, Al Tanzer, Mike Ryden, Ray Rindahl, and Millie Spry. Staff photo Brian Larsen

The Grand Marais Lions’ Club welcomes you back for the 92nd annual Fisherman’s Picnic.

The picnic begins with WISE Women’s initiatives buffet-to-go on Wednesday August 4 and concludes with the Lions club’s $10,000 drawing on Sunday, August 8 at 5 p.m. in the Harbor Park. Along with many other prizes donated from our great local businesses. So come and support the lions club and buy tickets, enjoy a fish burger, and enjoy some great local musicians in the harbor park.

Also, don’t forget to take in the family fun activities, kiddie rides, rock skipping contest, loon calling contest, minnow races and the crowd favorite fish toss.

And please stop in to purchase an activity button at the Lion’s information booth.

Enjoy Saturday night fireworks over the harbor and the parade on Sunday. We are still encouraging social distancing and ask that everyone respects each other’s space.

Last, please come and enjoy the picnic. Visit friends and family and support your hard-working Lions and other volunteers. And don’t forget to buy a ticket (or two, or three.). This could be your lucky year to win $10,000 or one of the other great prizes donated by area merchants!

Thank you and have a great weekend.

Mike Ryden, Grand Marais Lions Club president
