Jordyn Kirk of Grand Marais has helped kick off the Violence Prevention Center’s 25th anniversary by creating a new logo. The 11th grader at Cook County High School is the winner of a competition that opened last fall to all Cook County residents. The guidelines asked for a dynamic, eye-catching design that reflects the organization’s mission.
“I tried to think of something as soft and gentle as possible. A feather is about as anti-violent as you can get. It’s easy and ‘logo-ish’. It’s just simple,” said Kirk. The prize of $250 will be awarded to Jordyn this week.
The mission of the Violence Prevention Center is to eliminate domestic and sexual violence against women, men, children and their families in Cook County, and until that time to facilitate their recovery, growth and change.
