On January 30, the Birch Grove seniors wished a fond farewell to Jim and Judy Norvell, long time Birch Grove supporters and residents of Schroeder. The Grand Marais State Bank treated seniors to a roast beef lunch that day and a nice time was had by all.
February will be a busy and healthy month for our seniors at Birch Grove. Join the “Birch Grove Move It” team and log your minutes and/or miles of exercise on the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic website. On Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m., the gym is open to seniors for walking and/or gentle exercise. Thanks to a grant from Arrowhead Electric, we will be purchasing a recumbent exercise bike for community use. A sign-up sheet will be posted in the community room.
To help everyone get moving, there will be a Zumba demonstration with Chris Angelo at 10:30 a.m. on February 27. Dr. Sandy Stover will also be at the senior lunch that day to talk about Safe and Healthy Lifestyles.
Need help with your taxes? Volunteer tax preparers will be set up in the community Room at Birch Grove every Wednesday until taxes are due.
Are you 55 and over and want to get 10% off your auto insurance? A driver safety class will be held on Monday, February 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the community room.
Clinic dates for the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic satellite office in February are Tuesdays, Feb. 12, and Wednesdays, Feb. 20 and 27 (afternoons). Call 387-2330 for an appointment. Last week Birch Grove senior news was not printed due to a printing error. The Cook County News-Herald apologizes for any confusion that may have been caused.
