A 35-year tradition— the Fisherman’s Picnic Tennis Tourament




The Cook County Tennis Association is once again hosting the incredibly popular Fisherman’s Picnic Tennis Tournament, featuring junior and adult events at the Cook County Public Tennis Courts in Grand Marais, on August 3 – 7, 2011. This is the 35th year this tournament has been part of the small town celebration—parade, fireworks, fish toss and tennis!

Junior events include Level 6 for youth (girls and boys) singles and doubles. Play begins August 3.

There are many opportunities to play for adults (age 17 and over): Masters – women, men, mixed doubles; Senior – men’s singles/doubles, women’s singles/doubles, mixed doubles; Men 3.5 singles, combined 7.0 doubles ; Women 3.5 singles, combined 7.0 doubles; Mixed 7.0 Doubles; Open Men -singles/doubles; Open Women – singles/ doubles; Open Mixed Doubles.

There are five courts, three with lights, available for play. Entry deadline is Thursday, July 28. For online registration, draw information and schedule, go to the CCTA website: www.cookcountytennis.org. The schedule will be posted at the tennis courts and on the website the night before the event or call 218- 387-2198 for information.

You do not have to be a USTA member to participate in this tournament.
