Don’t let the good times end on Labor Day weekend.
Head to the family friendly 8th Annual Radio Waves Music Festival Sept. 11-13 at Sweetheart’s Bluff in the Grand Marais campground. Music lovers can listen to over 30 local and regional acts take over the tented outdoor venue with a variety of genres including rock to folk, jazz, swing, and country.
Lake Superior 90.7 FM WTIP North Shore Community Radio sponsors the three-day event that also includes on-site food, children’s activities and on-site camping. Admission is $10 per day or $20 for the weekend, and free to children 12 and under. Camping reservations can be secured in advance at the adjacent campground by calling (218) 387-1712.
The first acts will kick off the event on Friday at 4 p.m. with the last act taking the stage at 8:30 p.m. Performing Friday will be the North Shore Community Swing Band, Sky Blue Trio, Angel Hair Rasta, Oversize Load, Shoot from the Hipsters, Wild Berry Jam, and The SplinterTones.
Saturday is an all-day affair with the first act taking the stage at 10 a.m. and the last act at 8:30 p.m. Saturday will have performances by Heck Yeah String Band, Frozen Britches, The Coast Connection Band, Fred Anderson, Portage, Briand Morrison, Larry Carpenter and Laura Moe, The Curry Family Band, Andy Keith, Roxann Berglund, The Brother Love Band, Sam Miltich & the Clearwater Hot Club, Earth, Wind & Todd, Lake Effect, Cook County’s Most Wanted, and Rich Mattson & the North Stars.
Sunday will see performances by The Carpenter Ants with Gordon Thorne, Gillman & Bowers, Amaroq, Gina Lee, Trails End Band, Lehto & Wright, John Silliman, The Pete K. Group, Maria Nickolay, Louis Medina, and The Carpenter Ants. Acts will start performing at 10 a.m., with the last act at 5:30 p.m.
