The Girl Scouts of Cook County, Northern Light Service Unit, are once again sponsoring Santa’s Workshop. The event will be held Dec. 3 at the First Congregational Church in Grand Marais from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

This is a place for kids to shop for family gifts, and keep those gifts secret.

Girl Scout elves take the shoppers around a private shopping area and help select gifts. Prices range from 50 cents to $2. The Scouts will also help wrap those presents before families collect them. Parents can check out a Christmas-themed shopping area while waiting for their shoppers. There will also be face painting, free crafts and a child-care area where parents can let their kids play while they do some secret shopping of their own.

There will be some changes this year. The Girl Scouts-Savannah Bound are sponsoring a pancake breakfast, starting at 7 a.m. and continuing throughout the workshop. Coffee and treats will also be available.

Any funds raised from the workshop go back to the service unit and help communitywide Girl Scout events like Alumni Tea and the end-of-year Court of Awards.
