43rd Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner open to all

You don’t have to be lonely on Thanksgiving.

For the 43rd year in a row, the Community Thanksgiving Dinner will take place at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church. The church is located at Third Avenue West and Second Street in Grand Marais.

“There is no charge for this traditional meal,” said Mary Igoe, who is in her 21st year as the Community Thanksgiving Coordinator.

“Last year we served 170 people. That was our biggest year ever,” Igoe said.

Once again tables will be set and food ready to serve for those who attend the sit-down family style meal in the downstairs Fellowship Hall at the church.

If you can’t stay, take out meals are available, and if you don’t have a way to get to the church, rides will be available, said Igoe.

For more information about takeout or home delivery or rides, please call the church office at 387-2113 or call Mary at 387-2032.

“We have between 40 to 50 volunteers who are ready to serve the public,” a cheerful Igoe said.

Remember, you don’t have to be lonely on Thanksgiving. A whole community will be there to share a meal and their company with you.
