All are invited to the Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner at First Congregational Church in Grand Marais. For 36 years, the church has opened its doors and kitchen to serve a thanksgiving dinner. At 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 26, the Fellowship Hall in the lower level of the church will fill with friends and neighbors who wish to celebrate Thanksgiving together.
Mary Igoe, coordinator of the dinner for countless years, invites the entire community to take part. She said although the event is held at the church, it’s not a church event, “It’s a community event.”
Anyone interested in also taking part in the meal preparation is encouraged to contact Igoe at (218) 387-2032. There are many ways to help make the dinner the continued success it has been for 30-plus years. People can donate food, equipment or services.
The Congregational Church is coordinating rides to the church and take-out dinners. If you need a lift to the dinner or if you know someone who is homebound and can use a holiday meal, call (218) 387-2113 to make arrangements.
Anyone in the community is welcome to come to the dinner. Thisyear, as every year, says Igoe, “There’s no sermon, no charge.”
