32nd Annual Grand Marais Arts Festival

Organized by the Grand Marais Art Colony

Celebrating thirty-two years on the shore of Lake Superior, the Grand Marais Arts Festival is a celebration of fine art, attracting over 8,000 visitors. In 2023 the Art Colony will host 60 juried artists. Funding for this event is generously provided by Visit Cook County.

Having temporarily hosted the event at Cook County Schools, due to road construction on Highway 61 and ongoing COVID-19 social distancing, the festival will return to the downtown corridor in 2023. Artists will set up between Broadway and 1st Avenue and on 1st Avenue south of Wisconsin Street. Parking and traffic will remain open on Wisconsin Street to 1st Avenue and on 1st Avenue from Wisconsin to Highway 61.

The festival will be held on Saturday, July 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday, July 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Grand Marais Art Colony is a member-supported nonprofit that has been a catalyst for the arts, artists, and arts learners since 1947. Beyond organizing the annual Grand Marais Arts Festival, the Art Colony hosts classes in seven different media, catering to all skill levels, as well as artist residencies, exhibitions and the biennial North Shore Readers and Writers Festival, November of 2023.
