Last week Wisconsin Street in downtown Grand Marais was closed for an impressive display of automotive art during the Grand Marais Chamber of Commerce Classic Car Show. The street will be closed again on July 9 – 10 for another longtime tradition, the Grand Marais Art Colony Arts Festival. Over 70 local and regional artists will be on hand to meet with the public in a celebration of the long tradition of fine arts on the shore of Lake Superior.
The festival opens at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9 and it brings a delightful variety of media including a number of local artists—bronze-caster Tom Christiansen, printmaker Betsy Bowen, jeweler Shelley Alvin, and emerging artists such as Anne Pollock and Noah Prinsen.
Throughout the weekend, there will also be live entertainment, face painting, demonstrations, artist talks, storytelling and more.
