Paintings from the Grand Marais Art Colony Plein Air are on display at Johnson Heritage Post and the Art Colony now until November 13. Gallery visitors will be able to see the finished works like this one being completed during the Quick Paint contest by Michelle Wegler. Her painting of a fall leaf resting on the craggy rocks of Artist Point is titled Passages.
The Grand Marais Art Colony Plein Air event wrapped up last week, but the exhibits will be available for viewing until November 13.
The novice, open class pieces—12 total— are hanging at the Art Colony. The competition juror, Dan Wiemer, is the Grand Marais Art Colony’s September featured artist and he has three pieces at the Art Colony.
The Art Colony is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The Johnson Heritage Post Plein Air exhibit has over 230 pieces from Art Colony juried and invited classes. The Johnson Heritage Post is open Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday 1 – 4 p.m.
Art Colony Director Amy Demmer was pleased to announce the winners of this year’s competitions.
