In addition to the great deals community members have grown used to from Cook County KIDS PLUS with the KIDS PLUS saver cards, this year the holidays can be brightened by homemade ornaments made by the kids who enjoy KIDS PLUS activities, like Dominic Wilson and Lucy Shaw.

You can receive great discounts all year round with local businesses who support youth programs by offering anyone purchasing a $15 KIDS PLUS saver card a discount at their store. It’s a great gift for a parent, spouse or grandparent.

Due to the generosity of these businesses, it more than pays for itself during the year. You may purchase cards for $15 for the entire year at Blue Water Café, Coho Cafe in Tofte, Cook County Community Center, Grand Marais Municipal Pool, Great Gifts in Lutsen, Holiday Stores in Tofte and Grand Marais, Java Moose, Joynes Ben Franklin, Super America and Stone Harbor Wilderness Supply.

All funds received stay here to support enrichment activities for youth and keep them free or at low cost so families can afford them. Call 387-3015 or 387-2000, ext. 331 for more information.

And there is a fun new way to support local youth this holiday season. Purchase a gingerbread ornament or a KIDS PLUS card.

Ornaments are for sale for $5 at the following locations: Grand Marais State Bank, Holiday, Security State Bank, Beth’s Fudge and Gifts, Lake Superior Trading Post, and Birchbark Books and Gifts.

KIDS PLUS Coordinator Ilena Berg expressed appreciation to the community for its support and added, “Happy Holidays!”
