DNR seeks input on license system
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is looking for input on how Minnesotans currently access the electronic license system, and what they want in the future as systems are modernized. Feedback from current and potential users — including anglers, boaters, hunters and recreational vehicle operators — is critically important. States throughout the nation are updating their license systems to take […]

Home is what you make of it
I’m not sure why I find it hard to use the word ‘home.’ I mean for myself, as in mine. I suppose a trapper’s shack – one small room with a low ceiling, a heavy door, and two small windows – was never meant to be a home, only a temporary, seasonal shelter. Not a trapper’s home for any trapper […]
For the Love of a Card
Thanksgiving is over and now looms the biggest holiday of the year. Christmas. Time for addressing beautiful cards. I recently read a Facebook post about the proper addressing of cards and the adding of the plural to names. No more APOSTROPHE…ever. If the last name ends in A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, […]
DNR: Caution vital as open water begins to freeze
With a deadly open-water season nearly in the rearview mirror, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reminds everyone that lakes and ponds throughout the state have started to freeze – and that where ice hasn’t formed, the water is dangerously cold. It’s up to all people to choose to stay safe around the water or ice, according to the DNR. […]
Minnesota Star watch for December 2021
After a long stint as an evening “star,” Venus plunges into the sunset on its next trip between Earth and the sun. It’s a short trip, though; in less than a month, Venus reappears in the morning sky. Jupiter remains a beacon in the southwest, while dimmer Saturn shimmers to its lower right. But over the next couple of months […]
