Flying is easy; landing is sometimes difficult for a bird as large as an eagle. When this eagle did land, the perch was rather flimsy and the eagle had to resettle or risk falling.

Isle Royale delivers handwoven mats to Grand Portage
In September, a significant journey across Lake Superior from Isle Royale to Grand Portage, Minnesota, took place. The cargo? Rec Park numbers up! Park board considers expanding rates
With the Northland awash in beautiful fall colors: a mosaic of oranges, reds, yellows, and golds that splashed across the Sawtooth Ridges and painted the deep valleys, it’s the color green, as in greenbacks, that caught the park board’s eye. Ideas to help people clean up their garbage
Regarding trash left by campers, maybe we should follow Thailand’s lead. They send trash back to its owners with a note saying “you forgot this” at such and such campsite. They also blacklist visitors who damage national parks. People caught littering can be fined up to $16,000 or held in jail for up to five years! We are too soft […]
Open letter to the voters in District 4
We would like to give our support for Dean Berglund as a candidate for District 4 Commissioner. Dean was born and raised in Cook County. Because of that he has known Cook County and its residents all of his life. He has seen the needs of this county change over the years. These changes require someone with knowledge and the […]
