Fun and safe bicycling at Annual Bike Safety Rodeo
On May 12, 2016, dozens of children and families and over 20 volunteers gathered for the Bike Safety Rodeo in Grand Marais. County board considers roads and recording
In a nod to the 21st century, Cook County Commissioners agreed to expend $245 to pay for phone service to be installed at the Hovland Town Hall for the summer. This will allow credit cards to be processed for events like the Hovland Art Fair that are held there during the brief, warm, mosquito-swatting straw-hat season. Fighting dust and road […]

Area residents are invited to join a free six-week session of online journaling groups that begins May 23. Separate, private groups are available for: cancer survivors, stroke and brain injury survivors, ALS and […]
Remember our fallen every day
They each have stories to tell. The crosses at Normandy. The markers at Punchbowl. The tombs at Arlington. The fallen heroes who rest in places unknown. From our founding Revolution to today’s Global War on Terrorism, nearly one million men and women in the Armed Forces have sacrificed their lives while defending America in time of war. Seventy years ago, […]
Arts economy ideas cultivated
Community members were invited to an “IDEA” meeting on Wednesday, May 11 at the Voyageur Brewing Company in Grand Marais. The invitation from the Cook County Arts and Culture Economic Planning Team included three questions intended to get participants thinking about the role of arts in Cook County. Those questions were repeated on large easels and attendees were given markers […]
