Hommerding graduates from Mesabi Range



Lori Hommerding of Grand Marais graduated May 11, 2011 from Mesabi Range Community and Technical College with an AAS in Human Services and Chemical Dependency. Hommerding is the first student to earn her degree solely over the Internet from Mesabi Range Community College.

Simonowicz receives Italian American Club scholarship



The Italian American Club of Duluth Scholarship Committee has selected Maxwell Simonowicz as the recipient of one of its $1,500 scholarships. Max is the son of Bill and Nina Simonowicz of Grand Marais. After graduating from Cook County High School this June, Max will attend Michigan Tech in Houghton.

Leah R. Laky of Grand Marais has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill. Trinity students must be enrolled full-time and earn a minimum 3.5 grade-point average. Leah, a 2009 Cook County High School graduate, is the daughter of Mark and Laura Laky of Grand Marais.
