We thought the weather had been about as bad as it could get at Hibbing, but it was worse at Proctor. High 30s, windy, overcast and raining. The team just wanted to get in, race and get out. And that is what we did. On the way out, the bus was loaded down with a lot of soggy clothing and […]

The Viking volleyball team finished its regular season with a home win against North Shore rivals, the Silver Bay Mariners, on October 22. An exciting season for young volleyball girls
It was an exciting 2009 season for Cook County girls’ volleyball action, with 31 girls from fourth, fifth and sixth grade participating in the Cook County Community Education volleyball program. While the players worked hard on the core fundamentals of passing the volleyball, setting, serving, serve receiving and spiking, their number one goal was to have fun. With that in […]

Buck’s Hardware in Grand Marais is the only registration for moose—28 moose were registered, which according to Ingebrigtsen is about par to last year. Only bulls were hunted this year, some with […]

And if there are readers who agree with me, or if you are receiving reactions such as mine, I would like to be included with their stance. I vehemently oppose hunting […]
Change must be made to women’s health care
Any discussion we have on health care reform must include a real commitment to improving the lives of American women. Women’s health is fundamental to our country’s health because women are small business owners and entrepreneurs; they are educators and doctors and CEOs. And as mothers and grandmothers, women are often also the health care decision makers for our families. […]

While we encourage readers to submit letters to the editor on issues they feel strongly about, we ask that letters include name, address, and phone number. Unsigned letters or those of questionable credibility will not be published or acknowledged. […]
